Here at ETHS, parents and students use the application, "Home Access Center" to access information about student grades, attendance, report cards, and contact information. As you may expect, learning the ins-and-outs any new application can be confusing and/or time consuming. To help answer some of frequently asked questions, we've created a series of video tutorials teaching guardians and students how to navigate Home Access Center, and all freshman students have completed an activity surrounding these videos during their FASH, AVID, or STAE classes. Watch the videos below to learn more, or visit our designated Home Access Center tutorial web page. Feel free to share this web page with students and guardians who may have specific Home Access Center issues, or are in need of a refresher!

How Teachers can Achieve Inbox Zero during a Pandemic

Got email? We know you do. So, how do you manage it all and stay on top of teaching during remote learning? Is it possible to achieve Inbox Zero during a pandemic? The answer may be yes, but it will require some additional strategies. Personally, I believe in the concept of keeping my inbox tidy. It helps me make sure that I have responded to people who took the time to write me. I get into a routine of responding and acting on emails in a timely manner. And I am less likely to overlook or miss something when I know that I am caught up with messages. So, how does it happen? Forcing Users to "Make a copy" in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, & Drawings

In my weekly perusal of EdTech blogs, I stumbled upon a great post by Alice Keeler about how to edit links to Google Docs, Sheets, Drawings, and Slides that forces the user to make his or her own copy. You can use this feature to avoid students asking you how to make a copy or complaining that they cannot edit the document you shared with them. It can also be useful for sharing documents with colleagues who may want to adapt your materials to their own purposes. By sharing the link that forces them to make a copy, you can avoid confusion around share settings and permissions. To force users to "Make a copy" of a document, follow these steps: 1. Open the document you want to share. This can be a Google Doc, Slide, Sheet, or Drawing. 2. Copy the URL of the document from the URL bar or the share settings menu. The actual share settings of the document do not matter when forcing a copy. 3. Paste the URL into an email, website, or wherever you plan to share it.
